This demonstration provides and overview of the Komprise Universal File MCP, a single interface for AI agents and LLMs to query across enterprise file storage, NAS, cloud, and unstructured data silos.
Komprise Universal File MCP
Answer Storage Questions Across Every Vendor in One Conversation
Storage teams already use Komprise to get unstructured data visibility across NAS, object and cloud storage systems. With the Komprise Universal File MCP, they get answers and insights quickly by asking their AI assistant in plain language, with no query building. In this demo, a storage admin goes from department growth trends to cold data to a data tiering plan that frees premium flash capacity in a few prompts. IT can also let other authorized users ask the same kinds of questions, and every request stays within the access controls IT already manages.

Find Medical Images Across Every PACS and Storage Silo
With KAPPA data services, the Komprise Global Metadatabase can index clinical imaging data and its DICOM metadata across PACS, VNA and hybrid storage. Until now, finding the right studies meant going through the IT specialists. In this demo, a pathologist asks Claude for specific imaging studies in plain language and gets matches from multiple storage location in one response. Watch them narrow the results with follow-up questions and send a curated dataset to their data lakehouse for analysis. IT stays in control: every query runs under the pathologist’s existing permissions, and Komprise logs what goes to the AI and analytics services.

Universal File MCP FAQs
How does Komprise Universal File MCP find medical images across different storage systems and PACS?
Medical images are scattered across NAS, cloud and object storage, and each PACS or VNA vendor stores them its own way. That makes a simple search across all of them hard. KAPPA data services extracts DICOM metadata, such as modality and body part examined, and indexes it in the Global Metadatabase along with system metadata like file paths. In the demo, a pathologist asks Claude for chest CT scans. Komprise returns 24 matching scans across Amazon S3, NetApp and Dell PowerScale, and is able to look at metadata extracted from Toshiba, GE and Siemens equipment. The pathologist gets one combined view, and every result respects their existing access permissions.
Can I analyze DICOM metadata alongside structured data in Snowflake or Databricks?
Yes. Once a query narrows the results, the user can export the curated metadata as an Apache Iceberg table through Komprise Transparent File Tables. Teams can then build dashboards in Snowflake or Databricks that combine unstructured data insights with ERP and other structured data. The image files themselves don’t move. Komprise exports only the relevant metadata.
How do storage admins use Komprise Universal File MCP across multivendor storage?
Storage admins can get answers across every filer, cloud and object store without running reports in each vendor’s console. In the demo, an admin asks how much data the Research department added over the past year and sees it spread across several file storage systems. They then find which data is cold and ask how much capacity they could reclaim by tiering it. The Global Metadatabase gives the AI one consistent view of the whole storage estate, so capacity planning takes a few prompts.
How does Komprise Universal File MCP support Flash Stretch?
Komprise Flash Stretch reclaims 70%+ of primary storage capacity by tiering cold data off flash, which can save thousands of dollars per petabyte. Komprise Universal File MCP makes that analysis conversational. Admins ask where cold data sits on premium storage and how much they could save by tiering it, then act on the answer. Tiered files stay in native format and remain accessible through Transparent Move Technology, with no rehydration penalty, so users see no disruption.
How does Komprise Universal File MCP fit into an AI data management strategy?
AI data management starts with knowing what data you have, where it lives and who can use it. Komprise Universal File MCP brings the Komprise Intelligent Data Management platform to any MCP-compatible AI assistant. It covers indexing, metadata enrichment, sensitive data handling and governed access. In both demos, the same interface that helps a researcher curate clinical images also helps IT cut storage costs. One governed layer replaces a separate connector for every storage silo.
