MANAGE GDPR COMPLIANCE

GDPR

Companies conducting business with the European Union are looking for simple ways to manage compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Identifying data belonging to a user and ensuring its orderly deletion may be difficult, particularly when data is strewn across multiple storage silos.

Komprise enables companies to address Article 17 of GDPR (Right to Erasure or Right to Be Forgotten) by:

CONFINING DATA BY POLICY PRIOR TO DELETION
A major issue with permanently deleting data is ensuring that no application breaks as a result of dangling references. Komprise enables orderly deletion of data through the Data Confinement policy.  For instance, if you want to delete data belonging to a user to comply with GDPR, then you can set a policy in Komprise to confine that data.  Komprise moves this data to a hidden folder outside the namespace visible to users and applications.  After IT has verified there is no dangling access to the data, you can go ahead and delete it.

DATA IDENTIFICATION FOR ACTION
Komprise may be used to identify data based on file metadata that fits certain General Data Protection Regulation criteria (e.g. data of a specific user). Komprise’s Deep Analytics feature may be used to get custom reports on such data that fits the criteria. Any further action may be take on this data such as deleting it, creating a copy or moving it to alternative storage.
